Chapter 4-6 QQC

Chapter 4

"You would not think common animals could be rejiggered to fit nutritionist fashion, but in fact some of them could be and were, in response to the 1977 and 1982 dietary guidelines as scientists discovered how to breed leaner pigs and select for leaner beef."

Wouldn't altering the animals DNA in order to obtain leaner meat lead to even more health problems?

This doesn't seem natural and may lead to other problems.

Chapter 5

"You might think that a national fixation on nutrients would lead to measurable improvements in public health. However the underlying nutritional science and the policy recommendations based on that science would both have to be sound."

If these recommendations are based entirely on hypothesis, what will happen if that hypothesis is proven untrue?

This quote makes it seem as though changes pertaining to nutrition are halted do to constant bickering amongst to different parties.

Chapter 6

"While it is true Americans post 1977 did shift the balance in their diets from fats to carbs so that fat as a percentage of total calories in the diet declined, we never did cut down on our total consumption of fat; we just ate more of other things."

Were they focusing too much on eliminating fat they simply forgot about other bad contents in food?

It seems as though people have been focusing on reducing fat without paying any attention to any other bad contents in food. Perhaps they should have been working on reducing all the bad contents of food rather than just one. Then again if they did that it may lead to more situations where scientists tamper with food and supposedly improve it.
